Hall of Fame Game kicks off 2008 NFL Preseason ~ Betting Preview
July 30th, 2008 - betED.com Press Release - Hall of Fame Game kicks off 2008 NFL Preseason
Preseason schedule officially kicks off this weekend with the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. betED.com NFL Betting Odds have the Washington Redskins as a 6½-point favorite against the Indianapolis Colts for Sunday's game (8 pm ET, NBC). The over/under total is 31½. betED.com also has odds for all 16 games in Week 1 of the NFL regular season schedule, as well as odds for Week 1 of the preseason schedule, which begins Aug. 7, Super Bowl XLIII odds, AFC and NFC Conference Championship lines, and AFC and NFC division odds. The Colts, who opened training camp July 24 at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN., are already dealing with injury problems. Quarterback Peyton Manning is out four to six weeks following surgery to remove a ruptured bursa sac in his left knee, thrusting backup Jim Sorgi into a starting position for most, if not all, of the Colts' preseason schedule. And wideout Marvin Harrison (knee) and defensive end Dwight Freeney (foot) are considered questionable for the HOF Game. The Colts made few significant changes during the off-season, reacquiring running back Dominic Rhodes from the Oakland Raiders and picking RB Mike Hart from the Michigan Wolverines in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Defensive Coordinator Ron Meeks will have a defense which allowed the fewest points in the league last season, returning almost intact. The Redskins opened camp July 2 at Redskins Park in Ashburn, VA. New Head Coach Jim Zorn will be implementing a west coast scheme offense, led by quarterback Jason Campbell and a wideout group including holdovers Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El, and rookies Devin Thomas (Michigan State) and Malcolm Kelly (Oklahoma). Defensively, the Redskins have little turnover, and new DC Greg Blache is expected run the defense much the same as the departed Gregg Williams. Before training camp opened, Washington filled the void left by Phillip Daniels' season-ending injury by trading for star defensive end Jason Taylor from the Miami Dolphins. In exchange for Taylor, Miami will receive Washington's second-round selection in 2009 and sixth-round pick in 2010. Taylor, 33, has spent his entire 12-year career with the Dolphins, compiling 662 tackles, 117 sacks and 117 sacks Check out NFL Betting Odss at betED.com.
